Without leaving Bordeaux LA MAISON DU VIN – Bordeaux centre The best wine bar in terms of quality to price ratio. There are beginner’s classes throughout the week for restaurant owners and professionals. CHATEAU LUCHEY HALDE – Pessac Leognan www.luchey-halde.com + Situated close to Tram A it’s the most accessible Chateau in Bordeaux without taking the train or driving. There is also a wine school there. There are wine and chocolate making courses and regular visits at fixed times. PAPE CLEMENT – Pessac Leognan Acessible by pubic transport Tram B (to Pessac Centre) and then taking the bus. It also easy to cycle there. The owner is Bernard Magret, an expert in wine and wine marketing. + The “Sleeping Beauty” chateau as our kids called it when they were little. The luxurious decor and the meticulous renovation make it a chateau for special occasions. The two chateaux have function rooms for events and weddings. In Medoc LA WINERY – Arsac A 1000 m2 complex dedicated to wine. There’s a restaurant, courses and taster sessions to discover your own taste for wine at “The Wine Sign”, a wine bar and more than 1700 different wines on sale in the biggest wine shop in France. www.winery.fr/ CORDEILLAN BAGES – Pauillac Luxury Relais & Chateaux hotel and restaurant, open Wednesday to Sunday from March to the end of November. If you decide to go there, send us one! + The opportunity to get more out of your visit. Smith Haut Laffite is a magnificent chateau just 20 minutes from Bordeaux. Within its walls there is “Les sources de Caudalie” a spa with products all derived from grapes and 2 restaurants, our favourite being “Table du Lavoir” with its big open fires in winter and glass paneled doors that open up in summer. The setting and the food are both beautiful, creating unforgettable moments.
